Hardware Skills Needed:

How do you turn this thing on? And what the heck is a mouse and why is it connected to my computer? These things just don't make sense to me. Please be kind, I want to learn.

Power Newbie

I've successfully turned on a computer, used a mouse to click on icons to open an application or file — and actually understood what happened. It's beginning to make sense but I know I have a long way to go.

Basic User

I know I can surf the Web using a Web browser — and I know what a Web browser is. I can check email from the Web OR using an application that fetches my mail for me. I've discovered the Settings/Preferences App and want to know more about customizing my PC or Mac. If someone asks me to send them a Word Doc I don't break into a cold sweat. Creating folders and getting organized is actually kind of fun. I'm getting comfortable using my PC or Mac, but I've ventured into areas that I realize I probably shouldn't have. Yet! But I'm determined to delve deeper.

Power User

Creating a spreadsheet to organize my family or company budget is easy. Command Line or Terminal commands still make me a bit queasy but I feel confident enough to Cut & Paste a few commands. I've got the preferences/settings app covered and actually understand all, or almost all, of the choices. I'm ready to make this PC my own!

You dream in Hex, speak in BCD, and think in C#. You should be teaching these courses! Seriously, if you have the skills, and the patience, you may be the perfect candidate to help share your passion and skills with others in the community.

Software Skills Needed:

Newbie

Everyone, or my boss, tells me I need to know more above this piece of software. Honestly, I haven't the slightest clue as why or what it does. Well, maybe I've heard of it and played around with it but it's not making any sense to me. I need help NOW!

Power Newbie

I've opened the app, created a document and it almost works! I really need to find someone that can show me how this thing works.

Basic User

I've played around in it and know what I should be doing. I've had some successes but I really want to understand how and why this program works. Newbies ask me for advice — I'm flattered.

Power User

I've used the software for awhile, use most shortcuts, and my friends and coworkers constantly ask me for help. But I know there is more to learn and I want to save myself time and heartache by making this program bow to my every whim!

Seriously, lets get you in front of a class of students. It'll be fun they said.
