Syllabus

I. Course Description:

Design professional publications using InDesign CS6, the standard for professional desktop publishing. InDesign CS6 gives you the flexibility to design long documents, one-page ads or interactive documents in a powerful and intuitive environment. Learn the effective use of layout, type and graphic styles, symbols, layers, and importing graphics created in Photoshop CS6 and Illustrator CS6. Upon successful completion this course will prepare users for the Adobe Certified Expert (ACE) exam. The course will include test simulations to help prepare the student to pass the ACE Exam. Visit the BRCC bookstore to purchase the required book before class begins.

II. Course Objectives:

At the completion of this course, the students should be familiar with the tools of InDesign and be able to apply techniques learned in basic projects to create multiple pages for print, PDF, and eBook publishing. Professional workflow techniques and practices will be emphasized.

III. Course Requirements:

Basic working knowledge the Windows operating system, a desire to learn and time to practice outside of class.

IV. Methods of Instruction:

  1. Course is instructor lead and will consist of lectures, demons, and guided tutorials.
  2. Reading assignments from selected books and internet sources.
